Is it time to make your home more accessible?
Avoid self Neglect
For those with physical disability, adaptations can often be the difference of independence coping at home and not being able to cope and losing that independence.
At Fixers we have extensive knowledge with disability and adaptive living, having worked with nursing homes and individuals homes to create bedrooms, living areas and wet rooms that meet peoples needs.
We are always looking out for the latest products coming to market which will make someones life that little bit easier, where we install support, we ensure that it is built and installed to guarantee that support for the intended individual.
Examples of adaptations
Widening of doorways
Many doorways, especially those seen in older houses can be restrictively narrow, making is very difficult for anyone with restricted mobility to navigate, despite the appearance of a big job, in non supporting walls, these can usually be adapted very quickly, making life easier for everyone.
Strong grab rails
Sometimes just the right rail or series of rails in the right places can make all the difference, allowing you to feel confident with daily tasks like walking and navigating bathrooms, toilets and kitchens.
Many new houses are constructed with hollow walls, where this is the case we can look to design reinforcements of those walls to ensure the rails do not let you down.
Accessible kitchen design
Where we install accessible kitchens, we primarily do so utilising Howdens Kitchens.
As an authorised installer for Howdens we have access too their huge variety of kitchens including their cutting edge adaptations range, which we can install to provide you with a kitchen you may not have realised was possible.
Paths and Ramps
Widening of paths and the addition of ramps can make all the difference when it comes to accessibility for houses where steps are a problem.
